Haiti to play USMNT in Miami due to security crisis
Concacaf has granted an exceptional request from the Haitian Football Federation to host its home matches on the territory of its opponents due to ongoing security concerns in Haiti. As a result, Haiti will play the first leg of its Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal against the United States in Miami on November 14.
The United States will now host both legs of the tie, with the second leg scheduled for November 17 in Cincinnati, Ohio. This arrangement follows Haiti's inability to host international matches within its own borders since July 2021, following the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse and subsequent gang violence that has impacted national infrastructure, including the Stade Sylvio Cator.
Under this new flexibility, the Haitian federation is not restricted to neutral Caribbean venues but may host matches in North or Central America, provided they receive individual approval from Concacaf and the opposing member association.
