Haiti unveils 2026 World Cup squad and changes jersey after FIFA ruling
Haiti has announced its 26‑player roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, its first appearance in the tournament since 1974. The squad includes three goalkeepers – Josué Duverger, Alexandre Pierre and Johny Placide – eight defenders, six midfielders and nine forwards, with Duckens Nazon highlighted as the most experienced attacker. The team will compete in Group B against Scotland, Brazil and Morocco, with matches scheduled for 13 June in Boston, 19 June in Philadelphia and 24 June in Atlanta.
Just days before the opening game, FIFA ordered Haiti to modify its official kit, deeming a graphic reference to the 1803 Haitian Revolution too political. The redesign removes the controversial symbol linked to independence leader Jean‑Jacques Dessalines. The change comes amid a U.S. travel ban that limits Haitian citizens’ entry, meaning the squad will rely heavily on the diaspora already residing in the United States for fan support.
