Haitian Bridge Alliance calls for halt to deportations to Haiti
The California-based Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) has renewed its demand for the Trump administration to suspend deportations to Haiti. The advocacy group is also urging the U.S. Senate to restore Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for more than 300,000 Haitian nationals.
HBA executive director Guerline Jozef stated that the administration continues to deport individuals at a steady pace, with recent removals reported as late as October 22. The group argues that Haiti remains a humanitarian catastrophe characterized by institutional collapse, gang violence, and mass displacement, with nearly 1.5 million people internally displaced.
Jozef highlighted reports of widespread violence, including kidnappings of government officials and soldiers, as well as sexual violence. The termination of Haiti’s TPS and employment authorization, effective July 27, 2026, has placed hundreds of thousands of Haitian residents in the United States at risk of being sent back to unstable conditions.
