Haitian gang leader Wilson Joseph defies authorities via social media

Wilson Joseph, also known as ‘Lanmò San Jou’, the alleged leader of the Haitian criminal organization 400 Mawozo, has been posting videos on social media appearing calm and defiant. The footage shows Joseph surrounded by large sums of cash, projecting a sense of impunity despite ongoing security operations in Haiti.

These social media posts coincide with high-tension military operations involving approximately 100 elite Salvadoran soldiers. The troops are operating in the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, specifically in the Cul-de-Sac and Croix-des-Bouquets areas, to locate four Salvadoran citizens reportedly kidnapped by criminal groups.

Reports indicate that armed clashes have occurred during these missions, including an engagement in Cul-de-Sac that reportedly left at least one Salvadoran soldier wounded. The operations aim to reclaim territories controlled by armed gangs and rescue the missing nationals.
