Haitian government to fund Violette AC travel to Jamaica
The Haitian government has announced it will finance the air travel for Violette Athletic Club (VAC) to compete in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup 2026 semi-final second leg. The match against Portmore United FC has been rescheduled for October 28 at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
The relocation follows the cancellation of authorization for the club to play in the Dominican Republic. Dominican authorities withdrew permission for the match to be held at Cibao FC stadium in Santiago following planned mobilizations by a local organization against the event.
After being temporarily stranded in the Dominican Republic, the VAC delegation returned to Haiti. The team is currently training in Ouanaminthe after staying in Cap-Haïtien. To reach Jamaica, the delegation will fly from Cap-Haïtien with a stopover in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos.
Sportingly, Violette AC faces a significant challenge, trailing 3-1 after the first leg. The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC) confirmed the decision to support the club's journey to ensure their participation in the regional competition.
