Haitian police operation kills ten and a gang leader

The Haitian National Police (PNH) conducted an operation in the Bercy area, a border zone between Cabaret and Arcahaie, resulting in the deaths of at least ten suspected gang members. Among the deceased was a gang leader identified as Galaxie.

The operation involved the deployment of armored vehicles in the Lévêque sector, causing the preventive displacement of civilians and the evacuation of public spaces, including the Cabaret municipal market.

This security action follows an attack on September 6, 2026, which killed a member of the Departmental Brigade of Operations and Intervention (BOID). The Mayor of Cabaret, Wilner René, previously attributed such attacks to the Viv Ansanm armed coalition. Official municipal records indicate that since 2024, three police officers and approximately fifteen civilians involved in local self-defense networks have been killed by armed groups in the Bercy area.
