Hajduk Split signs Bosnian defender Dennis Hadžikadunić
Hajduk Split has strengthened its defense with the signing of 28-year-old Bosnian and Herzegovina international Dennis Hadžikadunić. Arriving as a free agent following his departure from Russian club Rostov, Hadžikadunić has signed a contract through summer 2028.
Upon his arrival, Hadžikadunić described Hajduk as the “biggest club in the Balkans,” noting that the club's history and high-pressure environment align with his professional ambitions. He emphasized that while his language skills might assist his transition, his decision was based on the club's sporting stature rather than regional proximity.
Head coach Gonzalo Garcia noted that while Hadžikadunić brings significant experience from clubs such as Malmö, Mallorca, Hamburger SV, and Sampdoria, the defender will require a period of adaptation and match rhythm before being fully integrated into the starting lineup. This increased competition for defensive positions has led the club to place 19-year-old Roko Gabrić on a dual registration, allowing him to gain playing time with Croatija Zmijavci while remaining available for Hajduk.
Separately, Hajduk is preparing for a Conference League playoff match against Raków Częstochowa at Poljud. Due to color clashes identified by UEFA, the team has been instructed to wear their all-white third kit for the home fixture instead of their traditional home colors.
