Hajduk Split supporters investigated for pro-Nazi chants
Twenty-three members of the Torcida, the organized supporters' group of Hajduk Split, have been implicated in incidents involving pro-Nazi and antisemitic chants and actions during a Conference League match against Ajax Amsterdam in Croatia.
Before the match, supporters reportedly burned a coffin labeled ‘Ajax’ and chanted slogans supporting Adolf Hitler. During the game, the match was briefly interrupted in the 77th minute due to thick smoke from flares.
Authorities in Croatia have taken action, with six suspects currently in custody and two others undergoing interrogation, while 15 remain wanted. If convicted, those involved could face up to five years in prison. Both Hajduk Split and the Croatian Football Federation have issued apologies to UEFA and Ajax for the conduct of the fans, which has drawn widespread condemnation from politicians and human rights organizations.
