Hajiji Noor urges GRS component parties to prioritize Sabah interests

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called on all component parties of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to prioritize the interests of the state and the coalition over individual or party egos. Speaking at the GRS Convention 2026 in Kudat, Hajiji emphasized that political unity within the coalition is essential to strengthening Sabah’s bargaining power with the Federal Government.

Hajiji warned leaders against becoming too attached to their political positions, stating that they should not let the pursuit of seats or personal status overshadow their responsibilities to the people. He noted that upcoming discussions regarding candidate selection and seat allocation would serve as a test of loyalty and cooperation among coalition members. He urged leaders to distinguish between defending principles and defending political ego, reminding them that no single candidate wins alone and that every victory relies on the collective machinery of the various component parties.
