Hajj 2027: New logistical and medical measures announced

New logistical and administrative measures have been announced for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage to improve security and efficiency for pilgrims.

In Chad, the Organe de Régulation de la Gestion du Pèlerinage (ORGEP) is implementing changes in cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj. Key updates include the mandatory use of the Massar digital platform for full payments, a new shuttle system connecting hotels to the Grand Mosque in Mecca, and the establishment of a dedicated clinic for pilgrim health. Additionally, Saudi authorities are restructuring accommodation options, removing the 'Package D' and offering packages A, B, and C with specific cost differences.

In Senegal, authorities are introducing a 'one-stop shop' system to centralize administrative, medical, and logistical formalities. This system allows candidates to handle medical exams, passports, vaccinations, and identity documents in a single location. Health screenings will be intensified, with specific focus on serious conditions such as cancer, tuberculosis, and heart failure to ensure compliance with sanitary standards. The Islamic Development Bank is also supporting these efforts through regional agency services.
