Hajj 2027 preparations advance with new fares and digital systems

Preparations for the 2027 Hajj are underway in Nigeria and Pakistan, involving new financial requirements and digital advancements.

In Nigeria, the Federal Capital Territory Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board (FCT MPWB) has set the 2027 Hajj fare at N7,672,822 for pilgrims from Abuja. Director Malam Kadiri Edah announced that those who previously made deposits must pay their remaining balances via bank draft by September 25, 2026. Additionally, pilgrims are required to submit international passports valid through October 2027, along with NIN slips and other documentation, to secure their slots.

In Pakistan, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has launched a new digital system and Hajj App to modernize the application process. This end-to-end digitalization allows pilgrims to submit applications and pay initial installments online. For the 2027 Hajj, 107,526 seats have been allocated for the Government Hajj Scheme, with over 400,000 people already completing registration. The system aims to increase transparency and convenience through a first-come, first-served selection process.
