HAK winter tire tests identify top performing models

The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) has conducted a comprehensive test of 32 different winter tire models to assist drivers ahead of the mandatory winter equipment period, which runs from November 15 to April 15 in Croatia.

The testing included two primary sizes: 185/65 R15 for smaller city cars and 225/50 R17 for mid-range vehicles. Results indicated significant performance variations among products, with some models receiving warnings due to poor performance on wet roads.

Continental WinterContact TS 870 and Michelin Alpin 7 were the standout performers, being the only models to receive a ‘highly recommended’ rating across both tested dimensions. The Continental model was noted for precision on dry and wet surfaces and low fuel consumption, while the Michelin model was praised for its handling and durability.
