Hakan Aktaş develops high-speed seed and object counting machine
Dr. Hakan Aktaş, an assistant professor in the Computer Engineering Department at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, has developed a machine capable of counting seeds and various objects with a one-in-a-thousand error margin. Developed through his R&D firm at Niğde Teknopark with support from TÜBİTAK, the device utilizes image processing technology, industrial cameras, and custom hardware and software to ensure high speed and accuracy.
The machine is designed to reduce time loss and errors for companies that sell products in specific quantities, such as seed distributors. While primarily aimed at the agricultural sector, the technology is intended for use in the pharmaceutical, food, and industrial sectors. The invention has received several accolades, including the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Innovation Award in 2017, the Growtech Agricultural Innovation Award in 2023, and a silver medal at the ISIF'26 Discovery Fair during TEKNOFEST Southeast.
