Hakan Fidan expresses hope for resolving terrorism issue in Diyarbakır

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed optimism regarding the resolution of the country’s terrorism issue during a visit to Diyarbakır. Speaking at the AK Party Diyarbakır Provincial Presidency, Fidan stated his hope that the terrorism issue, which he described as “hovering over us like dark clouds,” will be eliminated.

Fidan emphasized that once political violence is removed from the agenda and issues are resolved through civilized dialogue, Turkey will be able to achieve economic performance significantly higher than current levels. He noted that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan places great importance on Diyarbakır and remains highly sensitive to the developments in the region.

During his visit, which included attending Friday prayers at the Ulu Mosque and meeting with local citizens and tradespeople, Fidan highlighted Diyarbakır’s historical significance as a host to many civilizations. He criticized the “September 12 mentality” for its role in identity denial and asserted that the AK Party has worked to establish a system where everyone receives equal treatment. Fidan also indicated that efforts to foster peace and stability in the region would extend beyond local borders to include Syria and Iraq.
