Hakata to host seasonal cultural festivals and traditional performances in late 2026

Hakata is set to host a series of seasonal cultural events throughout late 2026. The autumn lineup includes the Hakata Toumei Watching candle art event at various shrines and temples, the Hakata Okunchi festival featuring traditional parades, and the Hakataori Exhibition at Joten-ji Temple.

Other scheduled festivities include the Kawabata Night Festival, the 51st Nakasu Festival with food stalls and parades, and the Hakata-Spirits event at Reizen Park. Additionally, the Higashi Hongan-ji temple will offer special viewings of its five-story pagoda.

In December, the 32nd Hakata Odori will be performed at the Hakataza Theater. This traditional dance event features geisha from the Hakata Kenban and includes multiple performances throughout the day.
