Hakkâri Workshop Publishes Comprehensive Development Report

A civil‑society workshop organized by the Hakkâri Emek ve Demokrasi Platform was held on 17 July 2026 at the Hakkâri Trade and Industry Chamber conference hall. The event gathered NGOs, professional associations, local officials and citizens to discuss the province’s long‑standing structural problems.

The workshop’s final declaration proposes science‑based urban planning to reduce earthquake, landslide and flood risks, calls for new transport corridors including the opening of the Berçelan Road, and urges stronger support for agriculture, livestock, border trade, women’s entrepreneurship and youth employment. It also recommends expanding health‑care capacity for mental‑health services, improving access to cultural‑sport activities, and enhancing women’s rights and local democratic participation. The report will be submitted to Hakkâri’s parliamentary representatives, the governor, municipalities, relevant ministries and the presidency for follow‑up action.
