HAKOM to implement new methodology for tracking telecom prices in Croatia
Mladen Sikirica of HAKOM (Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries) has announced a new methodology to systematically track retail prices in the electronic communications market. The agency plans to publish its first comprehensive analysis of these prices in late October 2026, covering data from 2025 and the first half of 2026.
The study focuses on private users within fixed and mobile networks, gathering data from major operators including HT, A1, and Telemach, as well as Magic.net. The goal is to monitor price movements at both national and regional levels, including specific data by municipality to assess the impact of deregulation.
While telecommunications prices in Croatia have not changed significantly over the past year, HAKOM notes that 36 percent of users have never switched providers, potentially missing out on savings from promotional offers. According to 2024 European Commission reports, Croatian prices remain below the EU average in most categories, except for the lowest speed access services provided via copper networks.
