Hakone Tokinomi sweets resort to open in September 2026

The Keishii Group and Hakone Tokinomi Co., Ltd. have announced the grand opening of a new sweets brand, ‘Hakone Tokinomi,’ scheduled for September 26, 2026, in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture.

The project involves the renovation of the former Hakone Ashinoyu Flower Center, a building with approximately 40 years of history. The new facility is designed as a ‘forest sweets resort’ that integrates the concepts of ‘nuts’ (kinomi) and ‘aged flavors’ (tokinomi). The brand aims to create unique confectionery that transcends traditional Japanese and Western styles by utilizing aging techniques similar to those used for wine or whisky.

Designed by architect Mitsuo Yagi, the site will feature two main areas: a retail building for take-out and gifts, and a cafe building featuring a botanical space with high glass ceilings. The development focuses on harmonizing the natural environment of the Ashinoyu forest with architectural beauty.
