Hakuryu stars in new film ‘Jiageya’ about land acquisition
The film ‘Jiageya’, directed by Shuji Kataoka, premiered on September 11 at Human Trust Cinema Shibuya. The story centers on a high-stakes battle for a single square meter of land amidst a major redevelopment project in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. Actor Hakuryu stars as Yoshifumi Kurosaki, a man known as the ‘Emperor of Land Acquisition,’ who must navigate complex negotiations and rivalries to secure the land for a corporation.
During the premiere stage greeting, Hakuryu expressed that the film’s theme brought to mind the Netflix series ‘Tokyo Swindlers,’ noting his intention to compete with the success of that production. He also mentioned that a second part of the film has already been completed.
Co-star Ryosuke Nogi praised Hakuryu’s character on set, describing him as a kind individual who proactively supports colleagues when they make mistakes. The film is scheduled for exclusive early streaming on U-NEXT starting September 25.
