Halden shooting: Man accused of killing father and son
A man, identified as 29-year-old Martin Braadland, is accused of killing father and son Bjørn Rune Engebretsen (72) and Per-Ove Engebretsen (47) during an elk hunting gathering in Halden. The incident occurred on a Sunday morning at a farmyard in Ør, where the suspect allegedly opened fire on a hunting party of 14 people.
Witnesses described the initial killing as ‘a pure execution,’ noting that the shots appeared targeted and were fired at close range. While the shots that killed the two men were described as intentional, the shot that struck a man in his 40s, who survived the attack, appeared more accidental.
Following the shooting, the suspect reportedly surrendered his weapon and provided a written statement admitting to shooting the two deceased individuals. The suspect was taken into custody by the hunting party before police arrived.
