Haldensleben police investigate possible abduction of toddler from daycare
Police in Haldensleben, Saxony-Anhalt, are investigating the potential abduction of a two-year-old boy who disappeared from the Max und Moritz daycare center. The child was last seen playing on the playground at approximately 10:15 AM on a Friday morning. Shortly after, at 10:30 AM, a passerby discovered the boy alone near a bus stop about 50 to 100 meters away from the facility.
The daycare grounds are secured by a 1.50-meter-high fence, and authorities have stated it is considered impossible for the toddler to have climbed over the barrier alone. Officials noted that all doors were locked and no damage to the fencing was found. At the time of the disappearance, 44 other children were on the premises under the supervision of eight educators.
While the city administration stated that initial reviews found no evidence of staff negligence or inadequate security, police are investigating the incident as a case of child abduction. The boy reportedly has refused to eat since the event.
