Haldwani and Roorkee report incidents of suicide and shooting

Two separate incidents involving relationship-related violence and distress have been reported in Uttarakhand.

In Haldwani, a 16-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her room after receiving news of the death of her boyfriend, 25-year-old Vikas. Vikas, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, had reportedly died by suicide at a construction site on Sunday. Investigations suggest the two had been acquainted through social media for approximately eight to nine months. Police have sent the girl's body for post-mortem and are examining her mobile phone and social media activity to understand the circumstances.

In a separate incident in the Civil Lines Kotwali area of Roorkee, a 24-year-old man named Pappu, also known as Sahban, was shot during a dispute involving a young woman. The victim was reportedly standing near a pond in Belda village when an argument broke out with another local resident, leading the assailant to fire shots at his back and right hand. The attacker fled the scene, and police are currently searching for the suspect.
