Haley Stevens seeks U.S. Marshals protection following death threats

U.S. Representative Haley Stevens has requested protection from the U.S. Marshals Service after receiving death threats. The threats reportedly followed her decision to endorse Republican Mike Rogers for the U.S. Senate in Michigan, rather than the Democratic nominee, Abdul El-Sayed.

Stevens, who represents Michigan’s 11th Congressional District, made the endorsement via social media just days before the midterm elections. The decision has highlighted significant divisions within the Democratic Party, specifically regarding political direction and stances on Israel. Stevens cited concerns over antisemitism and disagreements with El-Sayed’s associations as reasons for her decision.

Senior administration officials indicated that because Stevens is a member of Congress, her request for security is expected to be fulfilled as the formal process is completed.
