Halid Bešlić: Region commemorates first anniversary of folk legend's death
The region commemorates the first anniversary of the death of legendary folk singer Halid Bešlić, who passed away on October 7, 2025, at the age of 71 or 72 following a serious illness. His passing left a significant void in the music scene of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider Balkan region.
To mark the occasion, his longtime producer and friend Samir Kadirić released a new song titled ‘Zakletva’ (The Oath). The track features a collaborative effort including Bešlić’s granddaughter, Lamija Bešlić, and various colleagues, serving as a musical tribute to his legacy.
Family members, including his son Dino Bešlić, held a private memorial service at the Bare cemetery in Sarajevo. Dino requested a quiet gathering to avoid unnecessary media attention. Reports also highlight the singer's substantial estate, estimated at approximately 13 million euros, which includes real estate in Sarajevo and a villa on the Pelješac coast.
Colleagues such as Dino Merlin and Dragana Mirković shared emotional tributes on social media, reflecting on Bešlić’s character and his profound impact on generations of listeners through hits like ‘Miljacka’ and ‘Romanija’.
