Halifax hosts diverse cultural festivals and music showcases
Halifax is hosting several cultural events aimed at elevating underrepresented and global artists. The Prismatic Arts Festival is returning to the city, focusing on Indigenous artists and artists of colour. Executive and artistic director Raeesa Lalani noted the festival’s mission to provide platforms for racialized people and advocate for diverse voices.
One featured exhibition, “Roger Mooking: SoundBites” at the Dalhousie Art Gallery, showcases the work of Trinidadian-Canadian artist Roger Mooking. The immersive exhibit utilizes short, high-energy musical pieces to engage audiences.
In the music scene, the collective Million Vibes is presenting “The Million Experience” at The Marquee on October 3. Founded by producer Stak, the collective aims to create infrastructure and performance opportunities for artists working in Afrofusion, hip-hop, and R&B. The event serves as a platform for local and international artists to collaborate and build careers within Halifax’s urban music ecosystem.
