Halima Abubakar reflects on health battles and industry support
Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has reflected on her recent health battles and the lack of support she received from industry colleagues during her illness. In an interview with Saturday Beats, Abubakar stated that while some peers did not visit or check on her, she does not hold them responsible, noting that industry rumors may have influenced their distance.
Abubakar also addressed her strained relationship with the Actors Guild of Nigeria. She questioned the decision to issue her an indefinite suspension in 2024, alleging that the Guild failed to act on a report she submitted before taking disciplinary action. She expressed frustration that the organization did not contact her directly to verify allegations.
Despite the isolation she felt, Abubakar credited several individuals for their support, including singer Patoranking, footballer Ahmed Musa, Mercy Eke, Destiny Etiko, Lizzy Gold, Monica Friday, Queeneth Agbor, and Regina Daniels. She noted that some colleagues assisted with her medical treatment and described herself as a changed person looking toward the future.
