Halkidiki authorities lift water ban and address environmental hazards

Health authorities in the Kassandra municipality of Halkidiki have lifted the ban on using tap water after cleaning the water supply system and confirming that water parameters meet safety standards. The water is now cleared for drinking, domestic use, and cooking in local establishments.

Additionally, authorities have addressed environmental concerns near the Livari lagoon in Vourvourou, where asbestos-containing plates were discovered on the seabed used as an artificial barrier. The materials have been removed, and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible for placing the hazardous material.

To address complaints regarding restricted beach access, local authorities are now utilizing drones to monitor coastal areas and identify businesses that prevent public access to the sea. Violators face heavy fines or the potential revocation of their licenses.
