Halkidiki campsites report up to 95% occupancy
Organized campsites in Halkidiki have reported high occupancy rates of 90% to 95% from late June through late August. Demand remains strong into the first half of September, according to Antonis Delidimitriou, head of the Halkidiki Camping Association.
Rising costs for hotels and transportation have driven a significant increase in domestic tourism. Greek visitors now account for up to 40% of the camping clientele, as families seek more economical holiday options. For a family of four, nightly accommodation costs range from 40 to 55 euros, while couples pay between 25 and 35 euros. Overall price increases for camping have remained modest, not exceeding 10%.
In addition to the growing domestic market, the region maintains a steady presence of international tourists from the Balkans, including Bulgaria, Romania, and Serbia. There is also consistent interest from Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, particularly among travelers using motorhomes. The Turkish market has also shown notable activity this season.
