Halkidiki hoteliers offer emergency rooms for wildfire victims

Hoteliers in Halkidiki and Thessaloniki are providing emergency accommodation for residents affected by wildfires in the Sivi area of the Kassandra municipality. Due to the August 15 holiday period, hotels in Halkidiki are operating at approximately 90% capacity, prompting a collaborative effort between local hoteliers, the Ministry of Tourism, and Civil Protection.

Gregory Tasios, president of the Halkidiki Hoteliers Association, announced that a platform managed by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels has been activated. This allows hoteliers to list available rooms to accommodate those displaced by the fires. Additionally, a dedicated platform for temporary housing is available on the website of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.
