Halkın Partisi criticizes new renewable energy regulation draft

Yusuf Avcıoğlu, Energy Committee Chair and member of Halkın Partisi, has criticized a new draft regulation for Renewable Energy Sources (YEK) proposed by the Ministry of Economy and Energy. Avcıoğlu argues that the draft lacks a modern energy vision and engineering foundation, claiming it fails to solve structural issues and instead penalizes new subscribers while encouraging unregistered activity.

He specifically highlighted concerns regarding the new solar energy subscription model, noting that the proposed transition to a net-metering system without storage could create a “rent-seeking order” and risk limited national resources. Avcıoğlu called on the government to abandon the draft, describing it as a potential “time bomb” that lacks necessary international standards and infrastructure preparation.
