Halkın Partisi proposes new General Health Insurance model
The Halkın Partisi (HP) has announced a proposed roadmap for a General Health Insurance (GSS) system tailored specifically to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The plan aims to allow citizens to access healthcare services through both state hospitals and private clinics that meet specific standards.
The party intends to develop the system through collaboration with various stakeholders, including medical professionals, social security and legal experts, the insurance sector, and economists. The proposal involves studying existing health insurance models in Turkey, South Cyprus, and globally to create a model that accounts for the local population structure and economic conditions.
A comprehensive actuarial study will be conducted prior to implementation to evaluate costs, the ratio of workers to retirees, and current health expenditures. This study will determine the contribution levels for employees, employers, and the state, while ensuring coverage for retirees, the unemployed, children, and students. The goal is to create a transparent and auditable financing system that protects citizens from heavy financial burdens related to medical services.
