Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez custody battle extends into second week
A legal dispute between actress Halle Berry and her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, has entered its second week at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles. A judge has extended a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Berry through the weekend, which currently grants Martinez primary custody of their 13-year-old son, Maceo.
The proceedings involve allegations from Martinez that Berry physically abused their son and subjected him to domestic violence during their relationship. Berry has denied all allegations, with her attorney describing the claims as “completely baseless and intentionally misleading.”
During recent hearings, Martinez was confronted with a September 2024 sworn statement in which he declared the couple had no history of domestic violence. Martinez acknowledged the statement was true at the time it was signed, though his counsel argued the declaration was related to a financial request rather than custody matters.
Testimony has been conducted largely behind closed doors, including statements from Berry’s fiancé, Van Hunt. The hearings are scheduled to resume on Monday, with Berry’s daughter, Nahla Aubry, expected to testify virtually.
