Halle completes Saalepromenade renovation and flood monument initiative

The city of Halle has completed the renovation of the Saalepromenade in Trotha, which connects Pfarrstraße to the northern stairs of the Klausberge. The project, costing approximately 664,000 euros, was entirely funded by flood relief funds. Improvements include an asphalted shore path with natural stone edging, the restoration of historical masonry, and the planting of four trees, 280 shrubs, and 2,200 perennials.

This renovation marks the conclusion of a larger flood relief project for the Klausberge area. Previous phases included the 2021 restoration of the southern staircases and the Jahnhöhle access, as well as recent work on the shore paths and staircases costing 1.1 million euros.

In a separate development related to local flood history, the Saale Bulls ice hockey club has announced a one-year cleaning sponsorship for the flood monument located at the site of the former Halle ice rink. This decision follows the defacement of the monument with graffiti. The club, in partnership with Reinflex, aims to maintain the monument, which commemorates the 2013 flood that significantly impacted the city and local ice sports.
