Halle hosts panel on the link between anti-Zionism and antisemitism

The State Association of Jewish Communities of Saxony-Anhalt, the Alliance Against Antisemitism Halle, and the Jewish Community of Halle have announced a panel discussion scheduled for October 7, 2026, in Halle. The event, titled ‘Modernized Jew-Hatred: On the Connection Between Anti-Zionism and Antisemitism’, will feature speakers Volker Beck, Mirna Funk, and Stephan Grigat.

The discussion aims to examine the rise in global attacks against Jewish people and the ways in which contemporary political language regarding Israel may mirror historical antisemitic tropes. Participants will explore whether anti-Zionism and antisemitism can be distinguished and how old prejudices are being translated into modern political discourse.
