State leaders of Die Linke in Saxony-Anhalt, Janina Böttger and Hendrik Lange, expressed dismay over the incident, describing it as a serious event occurring during a peaceful assembly. They have called for a swift and comprehensive investigation to determine the perpetrator and the motive, specifically requesting that authorities examine whether the act had a political background.

The party emphasized that political disputes must not escalate into violence or intimidation, noting that such an attack could constitute an assault on the fundamental right to freedom of assembly.
