Halliburton Argentina faces criticism over contract cuts

Marcelo Rucci, general secretary of the Private Oil and Gas Union of Río Negro, Neuquén, and La Pampa, has criticized Halliburton Argentina S. R. L. for demanding a 23% reduction in existing contracts from its suppliers. The union warns that these unilateral measures, which suppliers must accept within seven days, threaten the stability of regional small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and local employment.

While Halliburton Company reported a global net profit of $534 million for the second quarter of 2026 and allocated approximately $200 million to share buybacks, the union argues that the cost adjustments are being unfairly passed down to local businesses with minimal margins. Rucci stated that the union is on alert to ensure these pressures do not impact workers' rights or job security within the basin.
