Halloween season brings community events, themed treats, and seasonal preparations

As the Halloween season approaches, various communities and organizations are preparing for seasonal festivities, ranging from local events to creative DIY projects.

In Northeast Ohio, several free community events are scheduled, including trick-or-treat trails in Lyndhurst and trunk-or-treat celebrations at local fire departments. Similarly, various trunk-or-treat events are organized by businesses and community groups to provide safe environments for families. On campus, the Campus Activities Board hosted a DIY candy bag decorating event to encourage student creativity.

Culinary preparations are also a major focus, with bakeries in Kansas offering themed spooky treats and various guides suggesting recipes for gory cakes and themed snacks. To manage the costs of the holiday, experts suggest setting budgets and comparing the price per piece of candy.

Health considerations are also being highlighted. Pediatric dentists are advising parents on which candies, such as sticky gummies and sour treats, pose the highest risk to dental health, recommending dark chocolate as a safer alternative. Additionally, some suggest handing out non-food items like 3D glasses to ensure inclusivity for children with food allergies.
