Halloween cosmetics test: Only one-third of products recommended

AK Oberösterreich and Die Umweltberatung conducted a study of 15 Halloween cosmetic products from various supermarkets and drugstores, including Billa, BIPA, Libro, and Müller. The testing categorized the products into three groups: five were recommended, five were conditionally recommended, and five were not recommended.

Products labeled as conditionally recommended contained plastics that do not break down easily in wastewater after being washed off the skin. Five products were deemed not recommended due to the presence of concerning ingredients, including Imidazolidinyl Urea (a formaldehyde releaser), BHT, Methylparaben, and Propylparaben.

Specific non-recommended items included the Basic Set Zombie from Müller, a Makeup Kit from Billa, lipstick from Libro, artificial blood from Müller, and a set of 10 makeup sticks from Spielwaren Heinz. Experts advise consumers to read packaging instructions carefully, test products on small areas of skin first, and ensure adult supervision for children.
