Halloween spending and retail trends in Austria and Germany
In Burgenland, Austria, Halloween is expected to generate approximately four million euros in revenue for local retailers. According to research by KMU-Forschung Austria, residents plan to spend about 50 euros each on Halloween items. Approximately 93 percent of consumers intend to purchase these goods from brick-and-mortar stores, while 29 percent are considering online shopping. Key items of interest include sweets (86 percent), spooky decorations (61 percent), and decorative pumpkins (54 percent).
In Germany, the retailer Action is launching a promotion for children's Halloween costumes. Starting October 14, the discount retailer will offer various costume sets for 5.95 euros. This price point is significantly lower than comparable ghost costumes found on Amazon, which are priced at approximately 14.98 euros.
