Halloween spending expected to rise in Austria and Germany

Retailers in Austria and Germany anticipate significant revenue from Halloween celebrations despite varying economic climates. In Austria, the Retail Association predicts approximately 80 million euros in additional turnover. Approximately 61 percent of the Austrian population participates in the holiday, with the highest engagement among Gen Z (82 percent) and Millennials (74 percent). Consumers in Austria plan to spend an average of 61 euros on Halloween-related items, with Gen Z leading at 84 euros per person.

In Germany, the German Retail Federation (HDE) forecasts that the Halloween business will remain stable, with additional revenues expected to exceed 500 million euros. This stability is noted despite a generally cautious consumer sentiment in the country.
