Halloween traditions and animal welfare warnings

Halloween has deep historical roots, originating from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. This seasonal transition marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of the dark winter months, a time when folklore suggested the boundary between the living and the dead became thin.

In connection with the holiday, the National Association for Animal Protection (ENPA) has issued a warning regarding a surge in social media requests for black cats. The organization suspects that fake profiles may be seeking these animals to perform harmful rituals. ENPA advises potential adopters to strictly follow pre-adoption verification processes to ensure they are not providing animals to irresponsible or malicious individuals.
