Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital opens robotic spine surgery training center
Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital has opened the world’s first ‘Hallym Robotic Endoscopic Spine Surgery Training Center’. To support this initiative, the hospital signed a business agreement with CGBIO to promote robotic endoscopic spine surgery and provide medical training for domestic and international healthcare professionals.
The center integrates the hospital’s ten years of clinical and research experience in bilateral endoscopic spine surgery with advanced robot and navigation technologies. The training program is designed to be comprehensive, involving theoretical lectures, hands-on practice using phantoms, and observation of actual surgeries conducted by experienced medical staff. This approach aims to standardize surgical techniques and establish the center as a global hub for robotic endoscopic spine surgery education.
The hospital has implemented the ‘CUVIS-spine’ endoscopic spine surgery robot, creating a next-generation minimally invasive system. By combining bilateral endoscopic surgery with robotic navigation, surgeons can plan screw placement and paths based on patient imaging data, ensuring higher precision while minimizing damage to surrounding tissues and reducing radiation exposure for medical staff.
