Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital opens Cardiac Rehabilitation Center

Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital has officially opened its Cardiac Rehabilitation Center to support the recovery and recurrence prevention of patients with cardiovascular diseases. The center targets individuals who have experienced conditions such as angina, myocardial infarction, or heart failure, as well as those who have undergone coronary artery interventions, bypass surgery, or heart valve surgery.

The rehabilitation process begins with a cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) to evaluate a patient's cardiopulmonary function and exercise capacity by monitoring electrocardiograms, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory gases, and oxygen saturation. Based on these results, medical staff prescribe personalized exercise intensities and methods using specialized equipment like treadmills and cycle ergometers.

To ensure patient safety, the center has established a continuous monitoring system and emergency response protocols. The facility operates through a multidisciplinary approach involving the departments of rehabilitation medicine, cardiology, and cardiothoracic surgery to ensure a seamless transition from acute treatment to long-term recovery and daily life reintegration.
