Halo: Campaign Evolved release fuels French dubbing outrage and teases Halo 2 remake

Microsoft’s Halo Studios released Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, on July 28 2026 after a brief early‑access period for premium editions. Players who completed the game on Legendary difficulty discovered a secret ending cutscene featuring Sergeant Johnson and 343 Guilty Spark, which ends with the line “See you in the sequel.” The footage has been interpreted as a hint that a Halo 2 remake is planned.

The French version of the game has sparked a separate controversy. None of the long‑standing French voice actors, such as David Krüger (John‑117) and Laëtitia Lefebvre (Cortana), were credited or contacted. Critics claim the new French dub sounds flat, features a pronounced Quebec accent, and may have been generated using artificial‑intelligence tools. A petition titled “Sauvons la VF de Halo !” has gathered nearly 19 000 signatures, with players decrying the dub as “cauchemar,” “catastrophic,” and “on se fout de nous.” Halo Studios maintains the performances are delivered by human native speakers, while the localisation firm Keywords Studios lists only its Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese and Mexican teams, with no French branch evident.
