Halo: Campaign Evolved Remake Launches with Updated Graphics, New Missions

Xbox Game Studios released Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of the 2001 first‑person shooter Halo: Combat Evolved. The early‑access version arrived in late June, with the complete launch scheduled for 28 July on Xbox Series X|S, PC and PlayStation consoles – the first time the franchise appears on all three platforms simultaneously.

The remake uses Unreal Engine 5 to deliver higher‑resolution textures, refined lighting and more detailed environments, while preserving the original level layout. New introductory missions set before the classic story let players control Master Chief and Lieutenant Johnson aboard a Covenant vessel, featuring additional weapons such as the Energy Sword and Beam Rifle. Voice work includes Keston John as Lieutenant Johnson.

Critics note occasional frame‑rate stutters and rigid character animations, but overall praise the visual fidelity and expanded combat options. Discussion of the title also touches on the upcoming Halo 2 remake, with suggestions that fan‑favorite multiplayer modes like Team Slayer, Big Team Battle and Firefight should be retained.
