Halo: Campaign Evolved early access launch marred by server glitches and mixed player reactions

The remake Halo: Campaign Evolved entered early access on July 23 2026 for owners of the Digital Premium Edition and Collector’s Bundle, offering solo play and four‑player cross‑play co‑op across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X. The launch also introduced new accessibility settings and a 25‑year‑anniversary content set.

Soon after release, many premium‑edition buyers reported server‑side problems that left the game inaccessible, with Xbox‑service outages affecting store, cloud‑gaming and remote‑play functions. The studio acknowledged the issues and worked on a fix.

Player feedback has been mixed. Steam ratings sit around 68‑70 % positive, but criticism centers on cutscenes that many describe as “parody‑like” due to awkward pacing, poor voice work and stiff animation. Changes to Cortana’s appearance and frequent hand‑holding dialogue have also drawn negative comments.

Performance on lower‑end hardware such as the Steam Deck and Xbox Ally is poor; reviewers note that the game demands at least an Intel i7‑10700K and RTX 2060 Super, delivering 25‑30 fps with blurry textures, while the original Master Chief Collection runs much smoother on the same devices. The early‑access period is expected to continue receiving patches and updates.
