Halo Studios hits Gold status for Halo: Campaign Evolved as staff allege toxic leadership

Halo Studios announced that the remake Halo: Campaign Evolved has reached Gold status, confirming that development is complete and the game will launch on July 28, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with Early Access beginning on July 23, 2026. The remake, built on Unreal Engine 5, adds rebuilt graphics, new voice recordings, modernized controls, local and online co‑op, three new pre‑quel missions, additional weapons and other gameplay enhancements.

At the same time, a report by content creator Rebs Gaming cites current and former employees who accuse studio head Pierre Hintze of verbal abuse, bullying, disregard for work‑life balance and mismanagement of the project. The allegations also implicate other senior staff, including art director Chris Matthews and COO Elizabeth Van Wyck, and claim that multiple complaints were filed with Microsoft’s HR department without adequate response. Halo Studios, Microsoft and the individuals named have not issued public comments, and the claims remain unverified.

The dual news highlights both the imminent release of a high‑profile Halo title and serious concerns about the studio’s internal culture and leadership.
