Haltern am See hosts Roman Days festival on Aug 29‑30

The LWL‑Römermuseum in Haltern am See will hold its annual Römertage (Roman Days) on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August. The two‑day event runs from 10:00 to 18:00 at Weseler Straße 100 and is themed “Ave, Agrippina!” – a reenactment of the imperial family’s arrival at the Roman camp Aliso.

The programme centres on Agrippina the Elder, granddaughter of Emperor Augustus, who is portrayed entering the camp together with her husband Germanicus and her uncle Tiberius. A historic parade, riding games, and a range of hands‑on activities let visitors experience Roman life, from legionary tents to crafts and trade. Museum leaders Dr Lisa Stratmann and Dr Josef Mühlenbrock stress that the festival aims to make history vivid for all generations.

Families are invited to explore the recreated Roman world, celebrate Augustus’s birthday, and take part in workshops, demonstrations and interactive displays throughout the weekend.
