Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant security guard hospitalized with heatstroke

A man in his 40s was hospitalized in serious condition after suffering suspected heatstroke while performing security duties at the main gate of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant in Omaezaki, Shizuoka Prefecture. According to Chubu Electric Power, the individual reported feeling unwell around 11:30 a.m. on August 31 and was taken to a hospital after losing consciousness, despite having taken a break in the shade.

In Shizuoka Prefecture, a total of four people were transported to hospitals due to suspected heatstroke by the afternoon of August 31. One case was reported as serious, while the other three were minor. A heatstroke alert had been in effect for the region during this period.
