Hamas and Samidoun honor Yahya Sinwar on death anniversary

Hamas and the Samidoun network have issued tributes to Yahya Sinwar on the second anniversary of his death. Hamas described Sinwar’s passing as “new fuel for the Flood,” while Samidoun, which is sanctioned by the United States and listed as a terrorist entity by Canada, called him an “immortal symbol” and urged supporters to escalate global protests and direct action.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu marked the anniversary by attributing Sinwar’s death to the ongoing military operations in Rafah, stating that the leader would have survived had Israel accepted Hamas’s conditions and withdrawn from Gaza. Sinwar, the mastermind behind the October 7, 2023, attacks, was killed during an encounter with Israeli troops in Rafah on October 16, 2024.

In addition to political tributes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) highlighted the ideological impact of Hamas on the younger generation in Gaza. The IDF released a letter written by Sinwar’s 10-year-old son, Ibrahim, in which the child expressed a desire to “hold a Kalashnikov and shoot Jews,” accompanied by drawings of weapons and missiles.
